Peary - The North Pole - With a loose plastic protective cover. General fading to covers. Sticker residue to lower cover. Gilt has worn through on portrait roundel on upper cover. Head and foot of spine worn. Page edges marked and foxed. Foxing to endpapers and discolouration resulting from the plastic cover. Some foxing to pages (and particularly to plate tissue guards) and occasional damage to page edges.

Nearest the Pole - Wear, marks and scuffs to covers. Spine worn with bumps to head and foot. Text block split midway, with damage to threads. Light foxing to endpapers but otherwise pages are nice and crisp. Folding map at end is present, though creased. Spots of light foxing to plates occasionally.

Northward Over the Great Ice - Covers heavily worn, with scratches and discoloured patches. Similarly the spines, with Vol. I torn at hinge. Endpapers split at hinges. Folding map at end of Vol. II present, with minor tears where bound in. Some discolouration to endpapers. Otherwise, pages are generally good, with occasional small tears at edges and some light marking through handling.

De Long - The Voyage of the Jeannette - Significant wear to spines, with tears and losses. Corners curled, with tears to the cloth. Vol. I with portrait frontispiece torn loose. Significant discolouration/staining to pages along top edge. Title page damaged. Page edges badly marked. Folding map in pocket at end is present and in good condition. Covers hanging rather loose. Vol. II with boards bowed. Enpapers split at hinges. Pages generally good, though lightly browned throughout with occasional marks.

Byrd -Little America - Covers worn, with curled corners. Spine faded. Endpapers split at hinges. Bookseller's pencil annotations to endpapers. Pages good throughout, with very occasional light marks. Folding maps with only minor tears where bound in.

Hall - Life with the Esquimaux - Plastic protective cover fitted. Covers very worn, with tears/losses to the cloth. Endpapers split at hinges, with covers hanging rather loosely. Text block split. Pages with occasional dog-earing, marks etc. Some losses to tissue guards. Colour plates somewhat foxed. Folding map in pocket at end is present, though discoloured along fold lines.
