The Coach-builders' and Wheelwrights' Art Journal. A superb run of 32 quarto hardbound volumes of this prestigious journal, apparently complete from Part 121, Vol. XXI, 1900 to Part 434,Vol. LII, 1931. Each year is uniformly bound in yellow-ochre coloured cloth with brown leather labels to the spines giving the title, volume and year in gilt lettering. From 1910 the publication's title changed to Cooper's Vehicle Journal, changing again from 1923 to Motor Body Building. Each volume has a title page and index at the front, and those up to and including Vol. XXXIV, 1918, include the magazine covers and advertisements. The issues are well illustrated with monochrome photographs, text figures, plans, diagrams and advertisements, and all appear to be in remarkably clean and sound condition, although a few of the bindings are slightly marked. The lot also includes another hardbound quarto volume in worn black clot h with gilt lettering to the spine, holding issues from Part 103, Vol. XVIII, 1897 to Part 120, Vol. XX, 1899, the issues bound without their covers-advertisements. Also, with the lot is a loose-leaf binder holding a large quantity of supplementary chromolithographic plates from the journal, illustrating vehicles from the late 1890s to the early 1920s. The first and last volumes are illustrated. (34)
