A Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve officer's light pattern sword, slender etched blade 32" bearing crowned anchor, Royal Arms, "RNVR" and foliage, and marked "Gieves, Portsmouth, London, Edinburgh", gilt hilt marked RNVR, with folding guard, white fishskin grip and bullion portepee, in its gilt brass mounted leather scabbard, externally near VGC, the gilt good (the blade slightly worn and polished); with its leather belt and slings and regular pattern gilt buckle.
