WW1 7th Bn King Own Regiment French Croix de Guerre Group of Four Medals.
Awarded to 1-11991 Private Arthur Claxton Royal Lancaster Regiment. Comprising: 1914/15 Star (11991 PTE R LANC R), British War Medal, Victory Medal, (1-11991 PTE R LANC R), French Croix de Guerre. Group mounted for display, accompanied by a quantity of research. French Croix de Guerre. London Gazette 14th July 1917 Private Arthur Claxton was born in Salford and had previously served four years with the 8th Bn Lancashire Fusiliers, before enlisting into the King Own on the 18th August 1914. He was posted to the 6th Bn and landed in France on the 26th January 1915. In May 1915 he was wounded with a gunshot wound to the face and returned to Blighty in June 1915. Recovering he rejoined his Regiment in August 1915. He later served with the Labour Corps and was discharged with the award of the Silver War Badge on the 31st January 1919. His service papers confirm the award of the French Croix de Guerre.
