Important Glasgow School Art Nouveau inlaid mahogany cabinet, circa 1900, probably by A. Gardener & Son, Glasgow, with the influence of Majorelle, floral form pierced copper work overlay to the upper glazed section of the central door, applied pewter koi fish amongst inlays of water lily pads to the flanking cupboard doors, the bars inlaid with whiplash flowering foliage, three locks marked for Salmon Brothers London operated by the same key. Inside the shelves and back are lined in a pale green velvet. 218cm high x 128cm wide x 42.5cm deep.

A. Gardner & Son, established 1803, were cabinet makers based at 36 Jamaica Street, Glasgow in Scotland. They built very fine quality antique furniture using mainly mahogany and walnut with fine quality inlays.
