"Figures Chatting, with Sheep near by and Church beyond," O.O.C., bears Christie's stencil mark verso, together with other inscriptions: Lord Howe, 22 1/2" x 28" (57cms x 71cms). (1)

Provenance:-1773 Collection of Charles Jennens, a renowned art collector who resided at Gopsall Hall, Leicestershire, UK
1773- October 22, 1918. The collection of Gopsall Hall (the house and collection passed to Charles Jennens’ niece, and later passed by marriage to Penn Ashton Curzon, whose son, Richard William Penn Curzon-Howe, became 1st Earl Howe (of the 2nd creation). The painting remained in the collection until sold in 1918 at the clearance sale of Gopsall Hall– it was positioned in the picture gallery, catalogue number 1359 and sold for £23-2-00. Provenance :  Sold Christie’s 1969 and by descent since.
