RARE G.B. 3-COLOUR FRANKING (4d+6d+1d) COVER REDIRECTED FROM MADRAS WITH INDIA 2as ORANGE; Colourful 26 Jan. 1866 env. (flap lost; minor edge wear) routed "Via Marseilles" to Madras franked by 1865 4d Dull Vermilion (pl.7; SG93/J54 - small corner fault) + 1865 Lilac (pl.5; SG96/J73 - faults) + 1d Red (pl.93) all tied by fine "BATH/53" Duplexes; redirected to "Madura" by the Madras Agents Arbuthnot & Co. whose boxed cachet tied the India 2as Orange-Yellow (bend at top) at top left which is also tied by a very fine Madras Duplex. Spectacular franking and redirected combination of the stamps of two countries. Exhibition Item.
