An original Dr Philip Crampton Smyly (Irish b.1917- d.2010) oil on board painting titled 'In the Midlands' featuring a canal lock and landscape. Some beautiful tonal lilac, blue and green brushstrokes to this piece. Housed in a molded gilt frame with artist sticker to verso.
Smyly was an influential figure in the Maritime Institute of Ireland and its National Maritime Museum following a successful career in medicine. He pursued his painting interests in retirement and was a well known figure in Dublin society.
