Medieval chessman type seal matrix, the oval seal face engraved with a device of a splayed eagle within a barbed quatrefoil with the inscription + SI RICARDI DE FLADBVRI (the seal of Richard of Fladbury). The hexagonal-sectioned handle has a loop in the form of a trefoil above a moulded triple collar. 25mm high, face: 22mm x 18mm, 14.0g. Circa 13th - 14th century. Found in Worcestershire near the village of Fladbury, situated beside of the river Avon.
