Railway Books, Signalling Interest and Modern Traction Railtours. An assortment of 17 railway books, comprising 4 hardbacks and 13 softbacks.
Of note are an Oakwood Press "The Oxford, Worcester & Wolverhampton Railway", an UNUSED ABC (some rust to staples), "Branch Lines to Midhurst" Middleton Press, a very good copy of Colin Walkers excellent book "Main Line Lament" and "An album of pre-grouping signal boxes" by M.A. King. All in very good condition, some with protective wrappers.
Plus Four A4 folders containing many items of railway interest, compiled by the late Edwin Hutchins. Two A4 folders containing items of signalling interest. Firstly, a facsimile copy of the GWR Signalling register (Signalling Record Society). This details every GWR signal boxes by name, open and closed dates, box type, size, Locking frame, block switches etc. Full of useful information and including the amendment sheets. Secondly, a folder containing, colour and black and white prints, newspaper cuttings, American Museum booklets and tickets, UK Heritage Railways, photos of stations and signalboxes including: Ascott Under Wychwood, Littleton & Badsey, Charlbury, Chipping Camden, Kingham, Norton Junction and Long Marston. The selection also includes 3 rare photos of some Class 74's awaiting scrapping at Birds Long Marston.
The other two A4 folders containing many items of modern traction interest, compiled by the late Edwin Hutchins.
The folders feature a huge variety of m/t railtours starting in the 1970's right through until the 1990's. There are many official railtour brochures, tickets, interspersed with a few colour prints of some of the railtours. Some wonderful named tours including: The Fenbasher, The Annesley Anabasis, The Lune Ranger, The Sulzer Smuggler, as well as traditionally named tours: The Cymru DEMU, The County Durham Crusader, The Welsh Collieries Rambler, Farewell to the Staines Branch, Last Day Louth to Grimsby shuttle etc. Also included are trips to Swindon Works in 1978 with photos of Westerns on the scraplines, a Freedom of Scotland rover in 1978 with ticket and photos of locos and signalboxes. An interesting lot!
