BLACKWOOD LETTERS PATENT SYPHON INK BOTTLE. 5.5ins tall, c. 1870s. Mid blue with a swirl of darker blue around the shoulder. BLACKWOOD & CO/ LONDON & heavily raised crown motif to front, below ground lip (very rare to find the tip undamaged thus). Rrear lip hole (the patent) below says BY ROYAL LETTERS/ PATENT/ SYPHON BOTTLE. Delightful heavily whittled base. Some minor internal dirt & a rear stopper section worn, & tiny pin head edge of panel nick, but overall a very fine example of this rare ink.
