A worksplate, No 1012 GORTON 1950, from a BR Class EM1 electric locomotive No 26009 built by BR at Gorton Works in April 1951 and allocated to Reddish. It was renumbered 26005 when BR decided to group together examples of the class with similar brake fittings. When the class was renumbered in the 76XXX series in the early 1970s it was allocated the number 76005 but this number was never carried as it was withdrawn in March 1970 and cut up by BREL Crewe in August 1971. Engraved brass, 12"x6½", the front lightly polished. (Postage Band: B)
