** THE 7 YEARS WAR - GOBBÉ CORRESPONDENCE - LETTERS AFTER RETURN FROM ENGLAND - ONE EX HAITI; 5 May 1762 EL (large part typed transcript) from "NANTES" (faint s. line on front) ex Gobbe soon after his return to France from Prison; to his father in Redon charged "4" sols. He is angry with his father for accusing him of bad behaviour in Nantes; half the letter is written by his father's friend in Nantes to corroborate that view - he is also returning a watch. Plus 3 June 1767 EL (full typed transcript) from Gobbe in "Saint Marc, Isle de St. Domingo" (the small port on the western coast of Haiti) to Redon charged "10" (from La Rochelle via Nantes) with a mainly fine "COL.N.PAR/LA ROCHELLE" on the front and endorsed "Par le vessau L'Enriette de la Rochelle QDG & PABP" on the reverse, advising his father that he has taken a ship from Marseille as a junior officer after having suffered two shipwrecks and is in debt for 1,200 livres.
