Montenegrin Double Action Gasser Revolver circa 1885, double-action, chambered in 11.3×36mmR, 5 in. sighted round barrel, the top marked ‘VERO MONTENEGRO’, 5-shot cylinder, closed frame, safety bar on the right of the frame, nickel finish with chequered wooden grips and lanyard ring, small crack in hammer thumb-spur (do not ‘dry fire’), 11 ½ in. overall. As a small country with limited armed forces, in 1910 King Nicholas I proclaimed that all male citizens were to be members of a national militia and must own at least one Gasser revolver. The title 'Montenegrin Gasser' covers a variety of large calibre revolvers of the Gasser pattern.
