A smokebox numberplate, 60073, from the LNER A1 Class 4-6-2 No 2572 ST. GATIEN built by the North British Locomotive Co, Works No 23110, in October 1924 and named after the racehorse which shared a dead heat finish (with 60074 Harvester) in the 1884 Derby. It was rebuilt and re-classified to A3 Class in November 1945 and renumbered 73 in October 1946, becoming BR 60073. It spent all its earlier BR days at Heaton before moving in June 1963 to Gateshead from where it was withdrawn two months later and cut up at Darlington Works. The front with thick paint over the numbers, built up over many years, the back repainted. (Postage Band: D)
