Attributed to Joseph Wright of Derby (1734-1797) British. A Bust Portrait of Peter Wright, 1778, Oil on canvas, Inscribed and dated 1778 verso, Oval 9.75" x 8.25" (24.8 x 21cm) and a companion piece, Henry Wright, probably his brother, a pair (2). Provenance: Private Collection since 1970. Note: The Rev. Peter Wright MA. (c.1760-1839), son of Samuel Wright Esq of Knutsford, Cheshire. He attended Manchester Grammar School, was a Fellow of Balliol and Rector of Colchester, Essex. Henry Wright, the sixth son of Samuel Wright, was born on 19th August 1762 and also studied at Manchester Grammar School. He practiced as an Attorney.
