Three Shipibo terracotta pottery vessels, 20th C, squat form, two with protruding facial features, decorated with geometric patterns in brown and red.
Tallest measures 12cm high(3).
Acquired in 1984 while the owner was living and working in Lima, Peru. Purchased at Maroti Shobo in Pucallpa, a commercial centre for the Shipibo-Conibo people of the Amazon, alongside the Ucayali river.
The traditional open-fired clay pottery is crafted by women, with skills passed down through the generations.
