British School (19th Century) Portrait of Edward Firmin Ellis (1784-1856), oil on canvas, 76 x 63 cm, frame 102 x 89 cm Portrait of Edward Firmin Ellis (1784-1856) born in Stoke Newington, a stockbroker for family firm Ellis & Co which was founded 1788. Ellis died in Boulogne on 18th November 1856. Possibly painted on the occasion of his marriage in 1807.
