(32.4 x 78.1cm.). * * An early and historically significant panorama looking east from the vicinity of First Tower towards St Helier and Mont de la Ville before the construction of Fort Regent which was begun in 1806.. * The military service record of Thomas R. Charleton shows that he was appointed 1st Lieutenant in the Royal Artillery 7th July 1779; Captain-Lieutenant and Captain 1st December 1782; Lieutenant-Colonel in the army 1st January 1793; Lieutenant-Colonel in the Royal Artillery 18th April 1801; Colonel in the Royal Artillery 28th June 1805; Major-General 4th June 1811; Lieutenant-General 12th August 1819.
