Mesopotamia, Jewish Magic Bowl. Circa 200-500 CE. 120 x 46 mm. A terracotta bowl with Mandaitic inscription. The text contains many allusions to passages from scripture, the seal of Solomon and sixty mighty men who stood around his couch. It was believed that these bowls were used in administering magic potions. ex. Private UK collection. Purchased from Coincraft 2002, accompanied by a reference work and dealers ticket.
