A FINE BOXWOOD SHIP MODEL FOR A 26-GUN ENGLISH SIXTH-RATE OF CIRCA 1680


modelled by Dennis Brogden, with 18in. hull framed and planked with trennels, ebonised wales, extensive carved work including wreathed gunports, lion's heads inside port lids, cypher for Charles II, lion figurehead and stern, partially planked decks with Venetian red-painted fittings, with further carved giltwork and fittings as appropriate, bound fore and main masts with ebonised yards, standing and running rigging with correctly sheathed blocks, mounted on a wooden stand to plush maroon display base within a glazed case with wood trim and brass plate -- 29½ x 34¼ x 14½in. (75 x 87 x 37cm.)
