A smokebox numberplate, 7819, from the 7800 Manor Class 4-6-0 built at Swindon in February 1939 and named HINTON MANOR after the 16th Century manor house in the village of Hinton Waldrist, west of Abingdon in Oxfordshire. A regular performer on the Cambrian Coast Express, it spent most of its working life at Oswestry before moving towards the end to Machynlleth and Shrewsbury from where it was withdrawn in the week ending 6 November 1965 and sold for scrap to Woodham Bros at Barry on 16 December 1965. It was rescued from Barry for preservation in 1973 and went to the Severn Valley Railway where it was restored to full working order, although it has been on static display at the Swindon Designer Outlet since 2007. The front repainted. (Postage Band: D)
