A George III walnut 8-day striking longcase clock by Robert Thompson of Bowness, the scrolled pediment with centre ball finial surmounted by an eagle, the engraved brass dial with two subsidiary dials and date aperture, also featuring silvered chapter with Roman numerals and ornate spandrels, flanked by plain pilasters. The case features crossbanded inlay, also strung with boxwood and satinwood, on a stepped plinth base with bracket feet. Includes brass bound weights and pendulum. Dial measures 12”. Total height 7’ (214cm).
Condition report: Door is warped. Loss to bottom corner of door. Some heat expansion cracks.
