AN UNUSUAL IRISH 19TH CENTURY EQUESTRIAN ITEM: This is a late 19th century Lennan Stirrup, patented circa 1860. The metal stirrup has a leather topped foot pad attached; likely it was for use by women as they road side-saddle at the time. The leather is nicely decorated with a sewn Celtic style decoration, to the underside impressed in the leather is the maker’s name and patent number.
