Antique purses: Five small early 19th century beaded or crocheted purses, the first beaded in dark blue and dated 1823 with the initials JDH, with draw sting and tassel; together with a black crocheted purse, the lower section is a checkerboard designs bordered in gold metal thread, in “En diable” form with the addition of a finger ring and gold metal bobbles to the corners; a draw sting example in dark blue with a paler central band worked with flowers in pastels, fitted with silk fringing in blue and yellow; a woven beaded purse with paisley boteh to the lower section and a floral border above, gold bead bobbles at the top and one at the bottom; the final bag is worked in gold metal thread with silk flowers worked into both sides, the upper border draws up with a gold thread cord fitted with two bobbles and two flower heads, and gold lace finishes the top edge (5)
One corner of the black bag has slight damage. Bag four is not fitted with a draw string or frame. Bag 5 has a few little areas where a hole has been repaired.
