A Romano British greyware vessel, circa 1st /2nd century A.D.; wheel thrown with everted rim and ribbed exterior, (with circa 2cm hole, low to one side); 20cm high, 24cm diameter PROVENANCE: Discovered by a gardener in the Staines-upon-Thames area, Surrey, in the early 20th century and retained by the householders and their family since then. His garden fork pierced the vessel when he found it.
