A GREAT WAR CASUALTY AWARD TO THE ROYAL ENGINEERS.
A 1914-15 Star named to 58646 Spr E.W. Auger R.E. Ernest Wilberforce Auger was born c1894, from Hendon, he enlisted at Stanwell. ON the 18th of February 1916, at the age of, 22 he died of wounds received whilst serving with the 126th Field Company in the France/Flanders area. His parents were Matthew and Edith B. Auger of Oaks Road, Stanwell. He is buried at the Etaples military cemetery, the personal inscription reads 'He loved the beautiful, the true the God who make all things new'.
