PRESS PHOTOGRAPHY. Second World War. A group of twenty-four photographs relating to the Women's Royal Naval Service (Wrens) and twenty-five photographs relating to Shipping Convoys, circa 1939-44, the black and white photographs with printed captions verso, by Planet News, Keystone and other similar agencies, largest 25.5cm x 20cm. Subjects include: • W.R.N.S - Officers' in training dining in the 'Painted Hall' of Greenwich Naval College, onboard the hulk HMS 'Cressy', Torpedomen, Trainees on board a photographic flight, Boaters in bellbottoms, Kite Balloons • Shipping Convoys - Salvo Bombs attacking merchant ships; enemy destroyer abandoned and on fire; British destroyers steaming toward Narvik; U.S. warship deploying depth charge etc (49 photographs in total, plus one wirephoto)
