Medieval Papal Bulla. A lead Papal bulla (seal) of pope Gregory XIV circa 1227-1241 AD. 48 g, 37mm. The obverse shows the legend GRE/GORIVS/PP.VIIII in three lines within a circular border of pellets. The reverse has the heads of St. Peter (right) and St. Paul (left), facing inwards, both surrounded by a beaded border and separated by a small central cross patonce, with legend SPASPE above.
