SPOON/SIDEWAYS DUPLEX CANCELS ON 3d NOTICE-RATE COVERS - ONE WITH 1d+2d - ETC.; Unusual 232 Aug. 1856 "Notice" (red ms) EL to Bath (missent to London endorsed "Unknown" with 12 sets of postmen's initials on the flap!) with 1d Red 'stars' strip of three (one creased) tied by mainly fine "GLOUCESTER/312" Spoon duplexes; plus fine large 24 Aug. 1857 Notice EL (endorsed "Notice" in red) unusually and attractively franked by 2d Blue 'stars' & 1d Red 'stars' both tied by v. fine large "BRIGHTON/132" s/ways duplexes. Also a 21 July 1859 Scottish voter objection EL with 1d 'stars' tied by Glasgow duplex [illustrated in BPPP, p.308], and 1856 pair of retained (not posted) copy Notices (one with Penrith cds inside; illustrated in BPPP, p.306).
