Born in 1734 Isabella Burchell (later becoming known as Isabella Vincent and then Mrs Mills) was a singer at Vauxhall gardens for ten years. Said to have been discovered while working as a milkmaid, she was trained at the expense of Jonathan Tyers (1702 - 1767), proprietor of the New Spring Gardens.
