An individually commissioned Coalport oval batwing tray for the Shropshire Horticultural Society, dated 1926 painted with a view of the Shrewsbury School and Boathouse by Percy Simpson, artist signed 'P.H. Simpson', with printed and hand-coloured flowers to the cobalt and gilt border, printed factory mark in green, Shropshire Horticultural mark in gilt together with the date, further titled and numbered '2665/K' in reverse, 37.5cm wide Provenance: Ivor Southorn Collection. This was possibly given as a prize by the Society. In the previous year, ten vases were produced for show winners, issued as 'Special Coalport china trophies for non-competitive classes, carnations, dahlias and roses' with a cash value at the time of £10, 10s. Previously loaned to the Coalport Museum for the 'Coalport at the Court of the Tsar -1996 Bicentenary Exhibition'.
