Albert Gleizes (b.1881-1953) was a French artist, theoretician, philosopher, a self-proclaimed founder of Cubism and an influence on the School of Paris. Albert Gleizes and Jean Metzinger wrote the first major treatise on Cubism, Du "Cubisme in 1912.
In 2010, a 1911 oil on canvas by Gleizes titled Le Chemin (Paysage à Meudon, 146.4 x 114.4cm), sold for £1,833,250 at Christie's, London.
