Romanus IV, Diogenes, 1068-1071 AD, with associate rulers, his sons, Michael VII, Constantius, and Andronicus. Gold Histamenon Nomisma, 4.37g, mint of Constantinople. Obverse; + P?MAN ?V?OKIA (slightly blundered, Christ standing facing on footstool, wearing nimbus cruciger, pallium, and colobium, and crowning Romanus (on left) and Eudocia (on right), both standing facing, each wearing sakkos and loros, and holding globus cruciger (the emperor in left hand, the empress in right hand), IC - XC on either side of Christ's head, all within double beaded border. Reverse; K?N MX AN?, Michael (in centre), Constantius (on left), and Andronicus (on right), all standing facing on footstools and all beardless, Michael wearing crown, sakkos, and loros, and holding labarum and akakia, his two brothers wearing the same costume, Constantius holding globus cruciger in right hand and akakia in left hand, Andronicus vice versa, dotted exergual band beneath the footstools, all within double beaded border, S-1860. Nr VF/Fine+, light scratches.
