A FINE LATE 18TH CENTURY ORMOLU AND WHITE MARBLE MANTEL CLOCK, the case surmounted by a recumbent semi-naked classical maiden drinking from a chalice, supported by a pair of winged cherubs riding seated rams, with grapevine swags, the moulded marble plinth with ormolu bands, on toupie feet, with a later giltwood base, the convex enamel dial with Arabic numerals surrounding a concentric calendar fronting a spring driven eight day movement with outside countwheel striking on a bell, the pendulum with gilt masked starburst bob. (47.5cm high, 38.2cm wide)
