Porsche 217 Standard J Diesel tractor
This 1960 Porsche 217 Standard J Diesel tractor previously resided within the UK where little is known about its history. It was purchased in early 2001 and was shipped to Guernsey on the 14th March 2002 and was subsequently locally registered. The modular two-cylinder diesel engine shares common heads and bores to the Porsche Junior and sends power to the rear wheels through an 8 speed manual transmission and rear portal axles. Features include a locking differential, dual PTO shafts and three point linkage. Under current ownership the tractor received a full restoration including a full respray and numerous new parts. The tractor went on to receive first place in "Best Restored Tractor" at a local event, The West Show and appeared in many local events in subsequent years.

The tractor came to auction as a 'dry' barn find where it has sat for a number of years unused and therefore there is the possibility that additional work will be required. The tractor is finished in red with cream accents and retains the factory bonnet badging. The tractor, as pictured, is in found condition but will be valeted will updated photos listed. Overall the bodywork and paint is in good condition.

Currently the tractor starts and idles smoothly, video available, transmission goes into gears and tractor moves freely. The hydraulics are currently untested. Private mechanical inspection welcome.
Mileage and running hours unknown.#

This Porsche 217 is the Standard, referring to the model variants, which came in Junior, Standard, Super and Master which can be attributed to the number of cylinders, 1-Junior, 2-Standard, 3-Super and 4-Master. This 2 cylinder variant was one of only 130,000 tractors produced by Porsche between 1956 and 1963. It was made in the old zeppelin factory in Friedrichs-Hafen-Manzell, Germany. The appeal of the Porsche built tractors can not only be attributed to their stunning looks and red colour but also their distinctive engineering that set them apart from competitors. Porsche tractors offered a fluid coupling connecting the engine to the transmission which offered the driver smooth shifting. From 1960 all Porsche tractors were fitted with Bosch hydraulic system, a significantly improved design to the earlier models. By 1963, production had ceased and Porsche tractors became a thing of the past. Now, their compact styling and Porsche heritage have made restored tractors a collectable item among Porsche car owners and vintage tractor collectors. Here is a chance for you to own a piece of Porsche history with this special Porsche Diesel Standard J.
