FIRST WORLD WAR CASUALTY GROUPS TO BROTHERS IN THE 7TH BN R.SUSSEX.R.
A Great War Trio comprising 1914/15 Star named to G-623 Pte J.E. Squires R.Sussex R.and War and Victory medals similarly named. Private James Edward Squires was born in Chichester c1896, he was killed in action on the 21st October 1915 whilst serving with teh 7th Battalion of the Royal Sussex Regiment. His father was Mr W. Squires, 1, White House, Shipney, Bognor, Sussex. He is commemorated on the the Loos Memorial in France. And a similar pair named to L-10989 Pte A.E.Squires, R.Sussex R. who is recorded with the same parents. Arthur Edward Squires was born on the 5th March 1918. Suffered a gunshot wound to the lower extremities on the 10th of July 1916, a second wound is recorded on the 27th of August 1916. He died whilst fighting with the 7th Battalion on the 5th March 1918 at the age of 21. He is buried at the Croix-Du-Bac British Cemetery Steenwerck in France., his headstone is inscribed 'Rest in Peace Beloved One until the day Breaks'
