A black & white portrait of Louis Mountbatten by Cecil Beaton, in naval uniform, 3/4 length, signed and dated 1943, with an accompanying letter of thanks from Louis Mountbatten to Dr. Arthur Levin, on Combined Operations Headquarters, Whitehall paper, dated 16th September 1943, giving thanks for the part played by Dr Levin in the care of Mountbatten whilst convalescing at the Royal Masonic Hospital. He notes that ' Mr. Cecil Beaton came down yesterday on behalf of the Ministry of Information to take some photographs and I am leaving instructions with my secretary to send you one as a souvenir. I must point out that the photographs will first have to be printed in England, then sent to India for signature and then come back, so a number of weeks may elapse before you get it'
