George Clare (1830-1900) - still life of flowers in a basket consisting of primroses, blossom and other blooms with fruit in the foreground, also a companion a still life of grapes in a basket with plums, apples and raspberries in the foreground, both signed, oil on canvas each 24" x 20" (a pair)
Both are in fully restored condition and have been relined, cleaned, restored and varnished in the 1970s or '80s, there is some evidence of restoration in the background but this is minimal, however, in the relining process the impasto has been rather compressed, contained within replacement 1970s or '80s gilt plaster and wooden frames.
