A FLINTLOCK SINGLE BARREL 17 BORE MILITARY DESIGN HOLSTER PISTOL, fitted with a 9'' barrel bearing spurious marls of John Manton & Son, it has a hinged captive ramrod, a brass butt cap and brass fitting at the stock fore-end, it is in correct working condition, bears a unit issue number 89 on the barrel tang, this is a late 19th century copy of the design of an earlier military issue holster pistol and was not made by the famous John Manton, its breech bears no proof marks and was probably made in the Indian sub-continent, it is in good overall condition. The above opinion on its age and the fact it was not made by John Manton is reinforced by an e-mail received by Wintertons from the current owner of the Manton trade name
