A VERY FINE ASTRAGAL GLAZED GEORGIAN MAHOGANY & SATINWOOD INLAID BUREAU BOOKCASE, the top pediment with inlaid detailing over a pair of astragal glazed doors each door with 13 panes, the doors opening to reveal adjustable shelving within. The bureau base falls forward to rest on a pair of pull out baize topped supports revealing the compartmented interior, including pigeonholes for correspondence and various drawers – including three secret drawers. To the base an arrangement of two of three graduated drawers Each with inlaid detail, along with brass handles and pierced brass key plates. One handle missing. All raised on bracket feet. A very fine piece of antique furniture. In excellent condition. Dimensions: 231 x 111 x 56cm (H x W (at the pediment) x D (at the foot). Width of the bureau 100cm. Depth with bureau open: 92.5cm.
