1808 The Edinburgh Evening Courant Newspaper St Andrews Golfing Announcement - dated Thursday October 13th the Silver Club was played for by The St Andrews Golfing Society and gained by Alexander Guthrie younger of Craigie - and on Friday 7th Instant The Gold Medal was also played for when after a severe contest was won by William Oliphant Jnr of Leith see p.3 col.2 - note the newspaper name and crest has been printed retaining some of the title - otherwise light folds (G) From the late David Easby Estate
