Peter Baker Smith. 'Trip to the Far West'. First edition, 192 pages, original drab cloth, from the Enys collection with John Davies Enys bookplate, stamp of the Cornwall Record Office on the endpapers, author’s presentation copy to his daughter, a good copy, Sherwood, Gilbert and Piper, London, 1840. A rare and observant, if not amusing account, of a tour through Cornwall, or to be more precise three separate tours. The author seems to be rather taken by the charms of the women of Cornwall. He ends his preface with "enamoured with the beauty and comeliness, the manners and piety of the Cornish ladies- God Bless them!"
