A George III Cornish mahogany eight day longcase clock by Charles Read of Helston - the silvered arched dial with Roman chapter ring with Arabic outer minute track, the signed centre with subsidiary seconds and arched date aperture, engraved with a lighthouse and two masted man o'war, within engraved spandrels with cherubs emblematic of the four elements, the arch with 'Tempus Fugit' and an eagle, fronting a bell strike movement with four ring knopped pillars, the case with arched hood with fluted columns, over an arched trunk door flanked by fluted canted corners, the plain base on shallow bracket feet, 207cm high, lacks pendulum and weights.
