AN EXCEPTIONAL IRISH, CORK, WILLIAM IV, SILVER TEA SERVICE, including a large tea pot, jug & sugar bowl. Created by the silversmith Kean Mahony – active between 1809-1850. The set dates from 1830. Decorated all over with fantastic repoussé work of flowers, leaves and scrolls, along with winged birds to the front and back resting over the cartouche to each piece. Engraved with crescent moon emblem to one cartouche and initials in script to the other. The detail in these pieces is really fantastic, and the workmanship that was put into them really has stood the test of time as they are now almost 200 years old and looking excellent. Teapot weight: 818grams. Jug weight: 269grams. Sugar bowl weight: 350grams. Each piece has Dublin hallmark/assay marks to the underside, with date letter of 1830, and maker’s mark for Kean Mahony.
