A good early 20th century pink mother of pearl fan, the cream silk leaf painted with a courting couple, the reserves filled with swags bordered with gold sequins and small features expressing romance, with a basket of flowers and a floral garland adorned with cupid’s arrow, a red rose and a hovering butterfly, backed in cream silk, guard approx. 24.5 cm; together with a fan of dusky Tahiti pearl, the monture shaped, pierced and silvered, the cream silk leaf painted en camieu in shades of soft blue, showing a lady meeting her suitor, the chaperone to the side, two side vignettes featuring chubby winged cherubs, all scenes bordered with sequins, the cherub to the left shooting his arrow of love, guard approx. 24.5cm (2)
The first fan is in very good crisp condition. Fan 2 lacks the bottom section of one guard and the other guard has a repair. Some damage to the silk to one side and on the lower border.
