Lot amendment: This skirt has only one panel, in other words it is just half a skirt. Chinese embroidery Qing dynasty: a fine and long Chinese skirt, the background in an unusual colour of deep sea-green, the centre front panel with fine embroidery featuring a decorative urn containing flowering plants, an incense burner, other scarce motifs including a bat, all with a shiny gold border, and an outer border of embroidered silk ribbon, and narrow edging braid, the side pleats, still stitched in place, feature polychrome silk flowers and bats in gold thread

More Information

Unused, the pleats are still stitched together to hold them in place. The waistband and interior silk are faded in parts, but the exterior has good, strong colour and the gold thread is shiny.
