Philoponus, otherwise known as John the Grammarian, born in Alexandria circa 490 AD, was a theologian, philologist and philosopher who authored many works, including commentaries on Aristotle, as here with De Anima (On the Soul). This edition is edited by the Venetian Vettore Trincavello (1496-1568) who edited some of the first editions of Greek classical works.
