A Victorian officer's lance cap of the 21st (Empress of India's) Lancers, black patent leather skull and embroidered peak, gilt braid and regimental pattern lace to rim and waist, French grey sides and top with gilt cord trim, gilt bullion rosettes with VR cypher, gilt on velvet chinchain (unstitched) with lion's head ear bosses, gilt rayed plate bearing silver plated Royal Arms with supporters on crossed lances, with scroll "Khartoum" and VRI cypher and title scroll, with spray of laurel (left) and palm (right), light blue feather plume in gilt socket, leather lining.
