A Japanese cloisonne box and cover by Hayashi Kodenji (1831-1915) Meiji era, late 19th century Of rectangular outline, worked in silver and gold wire with a scene of Mount Fuji with a boat in the foreground, within a ruyi flower border, the sides with fanciful birds amid dense foliage and flowers, seal mark of Kodeji to the underside. 12cm x 10cm x 5cm Footnote:An identical scene to that on the present lot in the form of a plaque by Kodenji was sold at Austin Auction Gallery, February 2021, lot 1440, and for another comparative example see Christie's, 29 March 1994, lot 210. Condition:Very good overall with only negligible signs of age.
